What I learned from the Easter Bunny

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LIFE
I LEARNED FROM THE EASTER BUNNY

Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.
Walk softly and carry a big carrot.
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
There's no such thing as too much candy.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention.
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.
Some body parts should be floppy.
Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans.
Good things come in small sugarcoated packages.
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket.
An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare.
To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell.
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.

I absolutely love this time of year.  I love that we celebrate the resirection with Spring and everything coming back to life.  We got our garden tilled and the pasture disked and everything looks ready to burst into life!!  I love seeing all the buds on the trees getting ready to open, and the tulips, dafodills and Irises start to come up out of the ground.

Lydia's first blog.

Rebecca   called   me   over   to   her house.  I said yes to her.  She   was    happy  and   crazy when she   opened  the   door and her

sister was too.  She had a big monkey. She had a great big bunk  bed.   We went through a great big hole.  And we had a great party

in it. And we had a fun time.  And we had a fun time on the trampoline. And down stairs we had a Frisbee fight.

Recent Happenings

We welcomed our first nephew to the Thurston side of the family on March 13th. Boston Gary , he is such a cutie and what fun it is to hold a new little one.   He is doing well and so is mom, Marissa.  We stopped by and saw Aunt Alaina at the fire station and took a little ride in the HUGE FIRE ENGINE and talked on the radios.  We then went out to eat at Brick Oven in Provo for Grandma Carey's birthday and ate lots of great food.

I have waited my whole life for this!

That is what Lydia and Emma were chanting as we pulled up to the skating place.   We finally took Lydia roller skating for her reward for passing off her math timing at school.  We went to Classic Skating in Orem and had a blast.  Lydia caught on pretty quick because she has Heelies and was used to having wheels on her feet.  Emma was crazy out of control to begin with but by the end was a balancing queen.  Kindra was way wobbly but learned how to lock her knees while Dad was pushing her and had a great time.  We will definitely have to do that again.  We only had minor injuries Dad and Kindra fell in the beginning and since he was holding Kindra he didn't have his hands to break his fall and landed flat on his rear end ouch!  He couldn't move for a few moments.  Lydia bonked her head on one fall and other than that it was a great time.  Mom took lots of picture and had regular shoes on which came in handy many times while helping the wheeled children out and giving dad a break.  What fun!

Leprecans

So Emma is a sponge for information.  If you haven't been around her recently you really need to.  In school they have been talking about St Patricks Day and faeries and rainbows and fools gold and shamrocks........... every night she comes home and "teaches" me the hundreds of things she picks up in a day!  It is Hilarious!  She is going to catch a leprecan?  for me so that I can build my pool!!! Wahoo!! It's good to have kids, where else would I get the money?  She also knows the difference between fools gold and real gold- so we are set!  We love being outside lately.  We have even been doing homework and Lydia's vest out on the back porch in the sun!  I love it.

Before I was a Mom

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

                           Before I was a Mom

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.  I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.  I never thought about immunizations.

                           Before I was a Mom

I had never been puked on. Pooped on.  Chewed on. Peed on.  I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
                         Before I was a Mom

I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried.  I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

                          Before I was a Mom

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.  I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

                          Before I was a Mom -

I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.  I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom!

drawing

Tonight was so fantastic for me!We had spent the afternoon outside measuring and walking around in the field so we could start getting prices on our fences for this Spring.  I think all my rosebushes made it through the winter this year even though one of them was run over in the snow, it still looks like it made it.  We moved Ginger (one of the rabbits) outside with Fluffy, and Hamp and Chester had a great time getting to know her and try to eat her rabbit food this evening.  After we had baths and Danny left to go to his Mission Leader meeting with the stake we went in to do Lydia's pulmozyme and read.  Kindra told me to come and look at her queen picture she drew.... the coolest thing was that it really is the start of drawing people!!! I was so thrilled.  There are times when I wonder if she will ever really write something that is real, but when I saw that tonight, I know she will.  That is the first time she has ever had a picture that I recognized as the start of people like Emma and Lydia both did.  The head has eyes, hair and a crown if you look real close.  She was also very proud of the dress that the queen is wearing.  Some days life is GREAT!

Tuesday's!!!

We fit about as much in a Tuesday as many may get done in their week, which doesn't make a lot of sense except that we get it all over with in one night...NOT!  Our morning starts out as usual and we get to school/ work and what not.  When we got home Lydia hurries and does her inhaler and then she and Emma get to go run around outside for 15 minutes and "plant their garden" as they have been busy doing for the last few days that have been gorgeous, but muddy and mucky down on the farm.  Kindra didn't go play because she wasn't feeling to good today.  Then they came in and while I went through the mail and the adds to get my grocery list ready to go they did homework on the white board and Lydia's vest/ saline/pulmozyme routine.
We then jumped in the car with plates and drinks so that we could eat dinner on our way home and headed over to Spanish for choir.  Danny in the meantime got everything lined up to get our new propane tank and then did chores and practiced his chanter for his lesson today!  The girls hopped out at choir while Kindra and I headed to Macey's to do our weekly shopping.  The poor little thing was asleep by the time we got there and I had to wake her up, but she loves to help me grocery shop.  We are going to make Limeade tomorrow because Limes were on sale 14 for a $1...that is one of our favorite drinks.  It always reminds the girls that they want to have a koolaid stand and make money selling it in the summer...why that reminds them,I will never comprehend.
Then we got a pizza and went back to get the girls.  They all ate and drank their calorie drinks on our way home.  We stopped for about 3 minutes and unloaded groceries and picked up our book and headed out to the girls school for the read-a-thon tonight.  We got to sit with blankets on the floor and read and eat popcorn...they loved it.  We are in the middle of a "Tinkerbell" book, I know you are all surprised at the content!!
We then got home and Danny got home and got to eat dinner and then we did homework finished reading leveled library books and everyone but Danny and I were sound asleep by 8pm!  Whew!  We got back taxes today and are now going to go work on bills, oh joy!  Then I can go read... I are in the middle of the new Vampire Knights 2 manga, Teach like your hair was on fire, Influencer, Ptolemy's Gate, and The culprit and the cure!  I also just brought home six more from the last Scholastic book order.  Someday I will be caught up, right?!
We just got back out Christmas quilt from getting machine quilted and it is absolutely gorgeous.  Shauna does an amazing job.  Now we just need to get it bound, and get all the embellishments on it....like the eyes, buttons, and the mustache for Santa!

Locked out

You know, sometimes I just don't get my kids.  Lydia was still sick today so she didn't ride the bus home with Emma.  I was home a little early with Lydia and had shut the garage door.  Emma walked home from the bus and saw that the door was closed.  Instead of trying to "think" and possibly problem solve what she should do, she sat on the driveway and cried because her mom wasn't home!  This of course was unbeknownst to me because of course I was in the house and we were waiting for Emma to get home.... boy that bus sure is late today.  When I went out to get Kindra off her bus and opened the door that I didn't realize was closed there is little Emma crying on the driveway.  I got Kindra and came back to talk to Emma.  You know we had to role play the idea that if you "thought" your mom wasn't home the first thing you should do is knock on a door or ring a doorbell.  Then next thing would be to walk to your aunt's house next door and ring her doorbell.  A bad choice would be to sit down on the driveway and cry where no one can see or hear you!!!!  Now she's at a party for one of her friends from school.  I have shut and locked all the doors so that we can practice what we do if we come home and the garage door is shut.  You know sometimes you just don't realize that you have to teach how to problem solve!
Danny won't be home until late today because he has his 2nd high school job/meeting after school and then it is the time of year where Sterling Scholars need to be driven to their interviews, etc. and then he has his ward mission leader/ stake meeting tonight.... I guess that means I better get down and do the chores or the chickens will come looking for me at the back door.  They are funny that way!

Snow Fun

Well we have had a blast with all of the snow recently.  We have not had much at all this year here on the other side

of the mountain but we finally got a lot and have been pulled around all over the place behind Uncle Jake and Aunt

Tina's four wheeler.  Jake got Danny up to 32 miles per hour and boy what a ride I think you could see my skid

for 10 feet when I got thrown off the tube.  Thanks for such a great time.

Lydia's First Quilt

We have all picked up on Grandma Carey's love of quilting recently and Lydia is super proud of her first accomplishment.  These pictures were taken the day we got the quilt back from the quilter.  Lydia did all of the piecing and Mom did the borders and binding what fun.  Emma can't wait to do her first very soon.

Be Mine

Valentines Day for us has always meant having a fun breakfast from Dad and a decorated dinner as a family.  Danny made oatmeal with yogurt in the shape of a heart in the center.  It is one of the girls all time favorite breakfasts that he makes.  We have to eat the yogurt out first and then eat our oatmeal the way we are used to doing.  Out at the school they had a Valentine reading time, where parents could come out for a 1/2 hour and read books with their kids and any others who wanted to join.  I had so much fun reading on the floor with the girls.  I took out the books Danny and I have given each other for different Valentines days because they are very special, they are up high on the shelves and not down with the other "holiday" books.  We read and talked about vocabulary and what different words meant.  I love how into vocabulary Emma is...even today she told me that the diamond in her ring was the size of a morsel!  We had that little discussion about a year ago sitting in the car at Walmart, what a character.

For dinner we had Carey, Jake, Tina and the triplets over for potato soup, french bread and salad.  For dessert we had jello poke cake!  I love that stuff, and it was red and white to boot!  The girls helped spread the flower petals and put candles around to light.  We used our red plates with gold bowls for the soup.  The girls marked everyones places with Valentine cards!  I think between them all the flower petals were rearranged 14 times... you know they had to get them just right!
